| dc.description.abstract | A feed forward Variable Voltage Variable Frequency (VVVF) Controller Scheme based on Voltage-Space Vector Pulse-Width Modulation (SVPWM) of Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) is described. This thesis presents a new simple algorithm of the Space-Vector PWM strategy. The scheme introduces a variable carrier frequency, which can minimize the computation time as only two multiplications is required to compute the time slices for each of the PWM cycles. An SVPWM Control Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) is also proposed using Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology. Using a single FPGA chip (FLEX 10K IOLC84-3) for the practical implementation of the modulator, rather than system consisted of microprocessor and external memory, achieves advantages like less power and space consuming, short design time and reliability. Design Synthesis of the ASIC is done using Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language (VHDL) and design entry tools provided by MaXPlusII.. The time simulation of the FPGA chip is also performed using MaXPlusII. The time simulation output of the proposed FPGA chip is tested and compared with the conventional output. | en_US |
