dc.description.abstract In this dissertation, the effects of conduction and convection on magnetohydrod)TIamic (MHD) howldary layer flow from a vertical flat plate have been studied numerically. The governing equations are made dimensionless by using ~uitable transformations. The dimensionless equations arc then solved numerically in the entire region starting from the • lower part of the plate to the down stream by means of implicit finite difference method known as Keller box scheme. A steady laminar two dimensional magneto hydrodynamic (MHD) free convection flow from a vertical flat plate of thickness 'b' is investigated. The effects of the magnetic parameter M and the Prandtl number Pr ha"e been examined on the flow field. The analysis has shown that the flo\~ field b appreciably influenced by the effects of conduction and convection. In our study we have also found that the present results are in excellent agreement with Z.T.KhanwhenM= 0 The above effects on the magneto hydrodynamic (MHD) free convection boundary layer flow with viscous dissipation from the verlical flat plate have also been analyzed. Similarity equations of the momentum and encrgy equations arc derived by introducing the same transformations. The dimensionless skin friction co-efficient, the surface temperature distribution. the velocity distribution and the temperature profile over the whole boundary la}er arc shown graphically for ditTerentvalUesof the paramelers Pr, the Prandti number, M, the magnetic parameter and !I,~the viscous dissipation parameter, en_US
