dc.description.abstract In this thesis, the combined effect of conduction and convection on magneto hydrodynamic (MHD) boundary layer flow with viscous dissipation and joule heating from a vertical flat plate has been investigated. By using the appropriate transformations, the basil::equations are transformed to dimensionless boundary layer equations which are solved numerically by using the finite difference method known as Keller box method. The effects of the magnetic pararmter M, the dissipation parameter N, !he Prandtl number Pr and the joule heating parameter J have been examined on the flow field. The analysis has shown that the flow field is appreciably influenced by the effects of conduction and convection. Similarity solutions of the momentum and energy equations are derived by introducing the same transformations. Here we have focused our attention on the evolution of the skin friction coefficient, the surface temperature distribution, velocity as well as temperature distribution for a selection of parameters set consisling of magnetic parameter M, the dissipation parameter N , the Prandtl number Pr and the joule heating parameter J. The dimensionless skin friction coefficient, the surface temperature distribution, velocity as well as temperature distribution over the whole boundary layer are shown graphiea1ly for different values of the magnetie parameter M, the dissipation parameter IV, the Prandtl number Pr and the joule heating parameter J, en_US
