dc.description.abstract	o-Jodophenol underwent palladium catalyzed reacrion with (rrfinethysilyl)acetylene to form o-(trimethylsilyl)ethy/nyl phenol wJ,1ichwas cyclized to 2-acyl(aroyl) benzolblfurans through Friedel-Crafts acylation with aceryl(aroyJ)chJoride or acetic anhydride. Utilizing the same procedure 2-acyf(aroyl) benzofurans were obtained from o-acetoxyphenyliodide. A development of the heteroannulation of o-iodophenoJ with dQet'iltinic substrates through palladium-copper catalysis leading to the synthesis of the 2-substituted benzofurans was also reported.	en_US
