Abstract:
The demands for wireless communication services are growing at a rapid rate.
Meeting these demands is challenging since the availability of the radio spectrum at
the frequencies of interest is limited. Furthermore, wireless communications also must
cope with several other difficulties such as multiple access interference (MAl),
channel fading, and limitations on the power and size of the mobile terminals. In this
Project, we demonstrated the problems of multiple access interference and channel
fading in wireless communications and focus on a particular technique that recently
received enormous attention, namely MIMO system considering spatial diversity
technique.
In this research work first a mathematical model of Multi - path fading is presented to
analyze the parameter of the model. This model is used to determine the overall
probability of fade depth in a specific link. A Layered space-time architecture for
wireless communication in flat Raleigh fading environment with multiple antennas is
designed. It demonstrated that when the fading coefficients are statistically
independent and known at the receiver, the capacity of the link increases linearly with
the increased number of transmit and receive antennas.
