dc.description.abstract Most of the people of Bangladesh are involv~d in agriculture. But the nation is not yet self-sufficient in food. Due to increase in population, the food shortage and the dependency to foreign countries are increasing gradually. To reduce this dependency and to obtain maximum contribution from agricultur"e, an appf"opriate cr"op plan is indispensable. The country grol~s a wide variety of crops in different seasons and different land types. Different outputs and contributions can be achieved if these lands are used for different crops. A linear programming model has been developed to determine the area to be used for different crops for maximum contribution satisfying the constraints arising out of food demand, capital and l~nd. To simplify the problem, the Cf"OPS ar.e divided into lO crop groups and arranged in 33 crop combinations for the three land en_US
