dc.description.abstract The need of project managers i5 increasing day by day a, mor~ and more development projects are taken in the country There i, no census on the grmvth rate of project, but the high growth rate of constmetion industry i> an indication to towards that,1he current demand in the private sector construction such a, campos of private universities, multipurpose complex, shopping mall, housing, land and infrastructure development are on the ri5e Most of the projects run through similar stages on the path from origm to completion. The project is born and a manager is selected, the project team and initial resources are ai>semblcd, and the work program is organized. Project Manager i, not something which ean be done by anyone. Selection of project manager is one of the two or three most important decisions concerning a project Projects that are technically complex or largc in value will normally justify the appointment of a project manager whose sole task is that of project management. Time and experience have shown to do the successful planning & management of a project, Manager5 role is mor~ important. To make a reahstic work plan, strong management commitm~nt, proper oversight and monitoring, el1ective analysis of risk, strong business justification, controlled cost, realistic exp~ctations, strong team work can be achieved by the proper role ofprojeet manager. The success of a project may be made more likely in having a qualified projeet manager Selection of project manager is a proee~s by which companies 01' organization decide who will or will not be allowed into the project. If the sele<.'tion is wrong or choosing project manager is not fulfill the key criterion the project turned into failure or loss the project. The project manager must be chosen and installed as soon a5 the project is selected for funding or at any earlier point and the ~election should be based on subjective and objective criteria. Th" work involves study of two eases of construction project with respect to projeet management and the role of project manager.
