Abstract:
Natural Gas l' playing a significant role to the national economy and
development of Bangladesh, GJ> i, essential for power, indu,lrial, ~onuner~ial and
domesti~ ,e~tor, So Gas i, the very sensillve and vital Issue for Bangladesh. Tiws
Gas Transmission Distribution Company Limited (TGTDCL) is a leading service
orienled publi~ uhlity cum industrlal organization of Bangladesh under Bangladesh
Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla). It wa, eslabhshed with the aim and
objective to transmIt natural gas from gas fields to dIfferent areas and to distribute
the same to the consumer> thereby helpmg ,ocio- economic development of the
nation Over the la,t four decades by ,upplying gas to the major power stations and
fertilizer plants of the country as well as a large number ,of industliaL commercial
and domestic customer> Titas (Jas ha, been making significant conlribution lo the
national economy The company possesses a large number of personnel to ,erve
almost a million customers. So management system of thi.' large company i, very
important. Management system takes place within four basic dimensions. which are
planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the hllman, physical, financial, and
information resources of the organization for achieving its goals in an effective and
efficient manner. Manager is the driver of this management system. All
organizations, large and small, need proper management to achieve their goals.
TI,e company has a comprehen,iw organialionai struClurc, which" dLvLded
by eight broad major dIviSIOns of dilTcrcnt functlonal are8.-'. These are (i)
admmistration, (ii) services, (iii) tlnancc,(iv) planning,(v) marketing, (vi)regional
sales, (vii)operation and(viii) secretarial. There are some deparlment, and .,ector,
under each division.
ln this work the management system has been analyzed to show the weaknesses
and influential issues and how pre"ent management situatinn "fthe company can he
improved.
Thc study consIsts a conccptual framework to give an idea about various
managcment issues in the company, which deemed to be important and intluential to
thc ovcrall managcrial performance.

limitations. Finally guidelines were proposed for the company in overcoming the
