dc.description.abstract |
A generalized database has becn dcsigncd Illr thc prcpaid system to be used for thc
uetering purpose in electrical utility organizations. Thc prepaid metering systems
currently used under different utility organizations have bccn studied thoroughly. The
variations of the databases and systcms from onc utility to other are pointcd out and
generalization is dcvised in the ncw dcsign. Considcring thc cxisting prepaid systems the
proposed system has becn dcsigncd.
In the proposed systcm, a new conccpt of vcnding has bccn cmcrgcd. This is tcrmcd as
"Disintegrated Vending Systcm". It has madc thc prcpaid systcm casy and user-friendly.
In the proposed system, thc vending units can be cstablished by small business houses,
thereby users can easily make their vending at their doorstep.
Based on the proposed vcnding systcm. thc gcncralizcd database has bccn designed
following the guidclinc dcpicted in ilL 7 Rcfcrcncc Inj(JrInation modcl. Thc design has
been completed by drawing thc E-R model for an application. Thc logical design is then
~xtended to physical model which in turn is uscd to dcsign thc table structurcs for thc
JlOposed databasc.
Finally, the implementation guidelinc of the proposed databasc has been formulated. The
software issues during implementation of the designed databasc have also been addressed
in this thesis. |
