dc.description.abstract Data replication is fundamental to ensure the availability of applications in a P2P network. To address the data replication of purely decentralized unstruc- tured P2P networks, a large number of replication schemes have been proposed in recent years. These replication schemes signi cantly enhance P2P application performances. This thesis presents a comparative analysis on di erent replication schemes of purely decentralized unstructured peer-to-peer networks. The perfor- mance of those replication schemes are measured in a common platform through an exclusive set of experiments. We present extensive simulation results in this thesis which exhibit the e ectiveness of di erent replication schemes. Based on the simulation results, we have provided guidelines for selecting replication schemes under di erent scenarios. en_US
