| dc.description.abstract | In this research we have analysed the performance of an innovative indoor localization technique based on multiple RFID tags. The rfid technology has attracted much for the ease of implementation and cost perspective. Localization system can be implemented efficiently using RFID technology to track the position of patient in hospital, even at home. A literature overview of the implementation of indoor localization of patient in the healthcare scenario has been done. RFID localization can be done in twofold way- reader localization and tag localization. The cooperative non linear least square algorithm has been used to simulate the tag localization system. Performances have been compared for different number of tags, their orientations and different reader positions in three dimensional scenarios. It has been observed that, multi tag localization exhibits less error than the single tag. The effects of body shadowing and the polarization of the tags and the readers have also been included in the analysis. Additionally, it is seen that, the decision accuracy of patient’s lying, sitting and standing condition is much higher in case of multi-tag rather than single tag estimation. To localize tag, a number of reference RFID readers are needed for implementing trilateration. Here a new architecture has been proposed where the mobile reader is localized with the reference tags. We have developed the localization scenario of a single antenna reader and reference tag pairs to emulate a multi-antenna reader which is requisite to calculate the angle of arrival (AOA). Here accuracy has been compared with different types, numbers and arrangement of tags and a comparative cost analysis has been done. It was shown that, new proposed architecture exhibits higher accuracy and cost effective than visa-versa localization (tag localization) as later needs a number of fixed readers to triangulate. Also with the reference tags, both the azimuth and elevation angle can be determined and incorporated in three-dimensional localization. | en_US |
