The performance analysis is carried out for a multi-carrier direct sequence (DS) CDMA
wireless communication system over a Rayleigh Fading Channel. Performance analysis includes
the effect of Multiple Access Interference (MAI), Inter-Carrier Interference (ICI) and the effect
of Carrier Frequency Offset (CFO) due to carrier frequency synchronization. The expression of
the Carrier to Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR) is derived for a MC-DS-CDMA system
considering the above system limitations. The analysis is also extended to MC-DS-CDMA
system with Rake Receiver. The comparison for the Bit Error Rate (BER) for the above case is
derived. The performance results are evaluated numerically in terms of SINR and BER
considering several system parameters like number of users, processing gain, number of subcarriers
and number of rake fingers with and without CFO. The result shows that there are
significant deterioration in SINR and BER performance due to fading and CFO. For a given
performance level, optimum system design parameters are determined from the analytical
results. |
