Abstract:
In this study of some macrocyclic complexes of Ni (II) containing a ligand with tetraaza tetrahydrazin moiety were prepared by template condensation of malonodihydrazide (C3H8N4O2) with different aldehydes. A new macrocyclic complexes of the type [Ni(C8H16N8O4)(ClO4)2], [Ni(C10H20N8O4)(ClO4)2] and [Ni(C20H24N8O4)(ClO4)2]were synthesized by the template condensation of aldehydes, malonodihydrazide with corresponding metal perchlorate of Ni(ClO4)2 in water medium. The complexes were distinctly colored and stable to atmospheric conditions. These complexes were characterized by UV-Vis, IR as well as by the measurements of their respective specific conductance and magnetic susceptibility. The specific conductance values obtained in DMSO for all the complexes indicated their nonelectrolyte nature. Furthermore, from their magnetic susceptibility values, UV-Vis electronic and FTIR spectra, the newly prepared complexes were expected to have octahedral geometry, with the respective divalent metal ion Ni (II) occupying the center of an octahedron.
