Development of a facile synthetic route for the synthesis of dihydropyrimidone derivatives

Abstract

A facile synthetic route for the synthesis of dihydropyrimidone derivatives (2-7) is developed using available chemical reagents. The very simple general procedure is the stirring of equimolecular mixture of 5-ethoxycarbonyl-6-methyl-4-(p-methoxyphenyl)-3, 4- dihydropyrimidine-2(H)-one (1) with different substituted benzaldehydes in DMF for 3.0-5.5 hours at room temperature. The products were characterized from the spectroscopic evidences such as IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR etc. The obtained products were moderate to good yields ---------------------
