Energy crisis is now a major problem throughout the world. That is why renewable energy has gained much popularity day by day. Recent enormous researches are going on alternative fuel. In this respect, biomass briquette is a good illustration of renewable energy. It is a densified form of bio-fuel and has gained a large popularity in poor developing countries as an alternative cooking fuel. Within a shortest period it has replaced traditional fuels for its availability and high acceptance in user level. The aim of this thesis is to make a briquette making machine which can be run manually by hand operation without the aid of electricity considering the poor people of small income in remote areas. Also make a solar drier for drying the briquette sample. By making some biomass briquettes in mixing of different materials of different proportion with rice husk and observe the effect of their calorific values and other properties. All of the briquettes are produced in Lab with hand operation by briquette making machine. Combustion related properties such as percentage of volatile matter, percentage of ash content, percentage of fixed carbon content and calorific value of the briquettes are determined. The experiment shows that briquette produced from raw materials mixed with rice husk, saw dust and waste paper had the highest calorific value of 14.74 MJ/ Kg and its’ calorific valueis highest among all the briquettesamples. In this mixed briquette samples production every case rice husk used more than 50% when mixed with other additives (raw materials). The procedures followed here are easy and cost effective. So this thesis paper might be helpful in production of briquette for the low income people to earn their livelihood easily and also make competitive with the existing briquette. It would be encouraged for the other people to involve them for increasing the production ofbriquette by using this easy technique. |
