Abstract:
Air Conditioning system (AC) is one of the most important electrical appliances for many sensitive applications such as data centre, switching and base station for mobile company etc. where 24 hours cooling needs to be ensured with highest priority otherwise failure and damages of the projects might occur. In this case it is usually needed to turn on and off a number of AC systems through an automated system reliably in a predefined schedule. To perform this automation, micro-controller based auto scheduler for air conditioning system has been developed and presented in this project. Previously an auto scheduler was developed at IICT but the problem was that the time delay between the air-conditioning systems was not user programmable. The proposed auto scheduler is with improved design which overcomes the problem of the previous auto scheduler. The proposed design consists of an Arduino microcontroller for performing all the controlling actions, a Relay for switching the air-conditioning, a GSM module for sending SMS and a Real Time Clock (RTC) for setting the desired time. User can set any pre-settled time for auto scheduling of the air-conditioning. The design has been simulated for testing the circuit before implementation. Then it is implemented using the test board. A number of test experiments have been performed for testing the proper functionality of the auto scheduler. The test results show that the designed auto scheduler can perform switching and send SMS which in turn ensures that the system is working properly and reliably. In future the proposed auto scheduler can be improved and used commercially.
