Abstract:
Ridesharing is becoming increasingly popular day by day as it can solve many environmental, congestion and energy problems. Many ridesharing services such as Uber, Pathao, OBhai, etc. allow peer-to-peer ride matching through mobile-phone application. However, with current ridesharing systems, a user has very little information about rideshare partners. A user cannot choose or approve a partner before the ride. There are risks and social discomfort that arise due to lack of trust amongst co-passengers. Additionally, a multiple seat car is being shared with only one passenger for a specific travel route though more passengers can be on-boarded if the passengers can anyhow have the opportunity to know each other. A vehicle owner also can pick-up and share his journey with someone who has similar plan of traveling the same route. Without knowing each of their individual travel plans, they are now picking separate vehicles which is creating additional traffic congestion on the road and most importantly increasing the cost of journey and extra fuel burning which can be easily avoided. Taking this scenario into consideration, proposedconcept will demonstrate sharing of a common vehicle for a nearly common source and destination with multiple previously known persons who have been maintaining relations in any of the social media networks and having separate plans of traveling the same route individually. This will eventually ensure a comfortable, economical, environment-friendly journey with low traffic congestions on roads.
