Abstract:
This thesis deals with the numerical results of re-heat two-stage adsorption chiller with different mass flow rate along with the variation of cycle time and also compared with the conventional two-stage chiller. The heat source temperature is considered 600C to 800C for the innovative chiller along with the coolant temperature 300C and the chilled water inlet temperature is 140C. Silica gel-water is chosen as adsorbent and refrigerant pair. Outlet temperature of chilled water also considered by controlling the mass flow rate and subsequently better results are obtained. In all the four beds of the chiller with mass recovery are taken as uniform in size. To analyze all the things the governing equations are solved by finite difference approximation method. A cycle simulation computer program is used to analyze the influence of operating conditions (hot and cooling water temperature, flow rate) on COP (coefficient of performance), CC (cooling capacity) and chilled water outlet temperature. The cooling capacity (CC) is better for the 1300s cycle time and Coefficient of Performance (COP) is gradually increasing for the longer cycle time. Also it is found that the CC and COP both are improved if the mass flow rate of chilled water and cooling water is increased.
