Abstract:
In today's global economic marketplace, the food sector has a tremendous focus and is constantly growing in importance. Society has a growing challenge for sustainable food production, quality, distribution, and food safety in the food supply chain as the world population grows. Green supply chain management (GSCM) features must be implemented in order to use the food supply chain in an environmentally friendly manner. Improved product sustainability has become a global trend due to rapidly dwindling global resources, continuous climate change and increasing environmental pollution, and the resulting increase in customer awareness. Comprehensive sustainability evaluation procedures are required to measure a product's sustainability performance over its entire life cycle. The principles of sustainable manufacturing and product sustainability assessment are explained in this article, followed by a review of current TBL approaches. The company's evaluation and selection of a green supplier is a critical issue for a company due to the numerous concrete and intangible elements involved. This research employs decision-making approaches based on several criteria. For the methodology part, the MCDM (multi-criteria decision making), and product sustainability index have been used for the industry’s overall sustainability assessment. A case study in the Bangladeshi food sector, precisely the bakery food manufacturer supports the applicability and efficiency of the proposed method.
