Abstract:
LoRa is a chirp spread spectrum technology that is becoming very popular for low-power wide-area networks, with high-density devices. This project discusses how to build a remote detection system prototype. An example of its application is for example to turn on a siren when it detects the arrival of a train at an unguarded railway level crossing. The device to be produced is expected to be able to reduce and even prevent traffic accidents that often occur at unattended rail crossings. The principal objective of the research is toproduce a prototype design for the unattended railway level crossings that would detect the train and warn at the level crossing gate.In recent research, it is indicated that the risk of accidents due to railway level crossing is increasing. The need for an automatic system arose due to poor management and responsibility of the railway system. This project deals with automation in railway system using mechanical and electrical components to control the railway gate. To avoid human intervention at level crossings system and reduce the number of accidents, it is essential to automate the process of railway gate control. The project is based on modern wireless technology LoRa (Long Range communication) which mainly transmits the arrival of train towards the railway crossing. The LoRa transmitter is mounted at a distance from the receiver LoRa that sends the data bit to the receiver. The data bit contains the train arrival signal. LoRa receiver is placed at rail crossing end that receives the bit of data and performs closing and opening of gates and performs an alarming function to concern the human and vehicles about the arrival of a train as well. This operation makes the railway level crossing automatic without the need of human invention. Thus, our project presents a secure and safe system with low cost and efficiently benefits society
