dc.description.abstract This thesis present a procedure for the performance characteristics analysis of horizontal axis wind turbines. The wind turbine is tested by tunnel air at different air velocity to determine power coefficient, torque coefficient and their variations with respect to tip speed ratio. Based on this test data, the wind turbine is replaced by an electric motor whose performance is closed to the wind turbine. Thus this simulated system can be used for research activities at the indoor laboratory conditions. Various wind-powered models matched for water pumping or electricity generation can then be developed without weather dependent outdoor experimentation. en_US
