dc.description.abstract Water scarcity is a pressing global issue, emphasizing the importance of monitoring and conserving water resources. This research introduces an IoT based water consumption monitoring system for residential complexes, utilizing Long Range (LoRa) communication technology. The research aims to address the limitations of existing solutions and provide a comprehensive approach to water management in residential settings. The main motivation behind this study is the need for a cost-effective and tailored solution for monitoring water usage in residential complexes. The key components of the system include IoT-enabled smart water meters installed in each residential unit, LoRa technology for long-range and low-power communication, and a centralized data analytics platform. The smart water meters capture real-time data on water usage, which is then transmitted to the data analytics platform using LoRa communication. The platform processes the data, providing valuable insights into consumption patterns, and opportunities for water conservation. Laboratory tests demonstrate the system's effectiveness in accurately measuring water consumption. The LoRa communication technology exhibits remarkable performance, enabling seamless data transmission over considerable distances with minimal energy consumption. This makes it a suitable choice for large residential complexes. Compared to traditional SCADA systems used in water management, the proposed IoT-based system offers several advantages like it is cost-effective, scalable, and easy to maintain. Moreover, the system promotes user awareness and engagement by presenting consumption information through a user-friendly interface, fostering a culture of water conservation. Future improvements for the system involve the incorporation of smart actuators that could automate water flow control, further optimizing water usage and conservation efforts. In conclusion, the IoT-based water consumption monitoring system using LoRa technology provides a comprehensive and cost-effective solution for monitoring water usage in residential complexes. It offers real-time data analytics, energy efficiency, and user engagement, making it an essential tool for promoting sustainable water management practices. By empowering residents with actionable insights, this research contributes to global water conservation efforts. en_US
