A study and analysis has been carried out to identify sites with a high wind potential to
apply wind program suitable at the sites. Here the investigation is carried out mainly at
Naogaon, Pakshy, Chapai Nawabganj based on data provided by LGEDi~ year 2003 on hour
based data and From Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) from year 2003 to
2008 on 3 hours based data at Rajshahi and Ishordi. The data provided were at 30 meter
height from LGEDand 10 meter height from BMD. The data analysis were done between
month April to September as study showed wind potential is higher between these months.
Monthly based Wei bull Shape factor and scale factor were determined and reflected in
velocity, energy and frequency Histograms, Velocity duration curves, Comparison between
observed and calculated Weibull Cumulative function and Probability function graphs. For
Validation the data provided by LGEDand BMD were compared Significant variation was
noticed. As there was Height difference and position difference between them Height Factor
was determined. The data studied showed the higher wind potential at mid day and late
night and between months June to September flowing close to 4 to 6 m/s range. The
velocity range was not satisfactory for wind power generation well below it demands and
also because high velocity range of wind potential showed very little duration so mainly
wind pumping system is suggested in the Investigated regions of Bangladesh. |
