dc.description.abstract This research work deals with the development of an SDH based microwave digital radio core network for tri-services organizations of Bangladesh. keeping technical, strategic, tactical, operational and administrative issues in consideration. All potential areas of the country have been surveyed and considered for transmission coverage and then radio sites are selected in such a manner that all areas of strategic interest and the ground of tactical importance are covered most effectively. Important parameters / data of radio equipment and the site survey report are fed to the 'microwave link budget calculation worksheet' in order to obtain path profile report of every radio link needed to form the core network. Basing on the path profile report, the core radio network is designed. The evaluation process of reliability is as ITU-R P.530-7/8 where propagation data and prediction methods required for designing the terrestrialline-of-sight systems is considered. Basing on the path profile reports and ITU transmission standard, a computer program named 'Microwave Link Evaluation Software' has been developed to assess the performance of the designed links. The developed software performs the analytical comparisons of the performance of the designed network with the ITU published transmission standard to ascertain the correctness of the designed network. en_US
